Stretch Goals and Fulfillment
about 6 years ago – Sat, Apr 14, 2018 at 06:55:31 PM

What a busy few days! We now have over 450 backers and are quite close to hitting the 20k stretch goal!

450 Backers

Because we've hit 450 backers, we'll be adding printable minis for all the creatures in the Bestiary! All backers at $15 and up get this PDF at no additional cost! The next backer stretch goal is at 500 backers, when we'll have a SECOND vote for a creature to include in the Bestiary!

Shadow Motif

We've unlocked the Shadow Wars Motif and are almost to the Full Page Artwork stretch goal! The Shadow Wars Motif details the spies, saboteurs, and revolutionaries of the psionic races, and the resources they use to hide and find information, manipulate extradimensional space, and get out alive to fight another day.

After that is the Expanded Bestiary stretch goal and then the Fleshwarping Motif! The Fleshwarping motif goes beyond mere grafts and alters and transforms the physical form. This will provide character options and GM tools dealing with the motif. And since we're so close to reaching the Full Page Artwork stretch goal, we're also unveiling the NEXT stretch goal after the Fleshwarping Motif: more interior artwork!

Fulfillment

On order fulfillment, while we still plan to use DriveThruRPG for distribution of PDFs and books, we will be using BackerKit to handle inputting information like shipping address, late updates, and even late backers. We are discussing how we will handle extra funds received from BackerKit surveys in terms of stretch goals, but this way, in case you decide after the fact that you want to upgrade your rewards or add on additional selections, or if someone finds out about the campaign after it's already ended, they can still get in on the fun!

Pictures

I have taken several pictures of different print options and all of them together in a single shot. The three books are: Ultimate Psionics (standard color), sample book (premium color), and Alien Archive (Paizo).

We have less than a week to go and we're going to do everything we can to finish off strong! Thank you so much for your support!

Backer Bonus, Artwork, Prints
about 6 years ago – Fri, Apr 13, 2018 at 02:39:27 PM

400 Backers!

We now have over 400 backers for the project! That is fantastic! And as a result, we'll be adding a printable minis PDF for all the iconic characters in the Psionics Guide. Everyone who gets the Psionics Guide PDF will automatically get this PDF.

If we get 450 backers, we'll give everyone getting the Bestiary PDF a printable minis PDF for all the psionic creatures.

We're also just over $200 away from reaching the Shadow Wars motif stretch goal. Exciting stuff with over a week left!

Artwork

We've been working with artists on art orders for the book on the things we know will be included. We started with the iconics - like the integrator (below).

The next piece finished is the iconic aegis.

And the iconic specialist has had the sketch approved and the artist is working on the final piece!

We have two backers who have chosen the iconic character rewards - the aegis and the psion - and we are working to go through their character concepts so we can get art orders placed. That means there are still rewards for the specialist and the integrator for those interested!

Prints

There's been a request to see side-by-side shots of the different printing options and then a Paizo book. I had intended to get pictures taken of the books side by side last night, but did not get that done. I will take them tonight once I have all the books in the same spot. Fair warning: I am not a photographer, but I will do my best to get a good shot!

Athanatism and Familiar Strangers!
about 6 years ago – Wed, Apr 11, 2018 at 03:05:08 AM

What a day! Welcome to all our new backers!

We have reached over 350 backers and over $14,000 in funding, so we are adding the Athanatism psionic discipline and the Familiar Strangers motif to the Psionics Guide!

Athanatism, if you are not familiar with Psionics Augmented: Seventh Path, is the psionic art of manipulating souls and spirits. This will mean new psion options, new psionic powers for levels 1-6, plus likely more to go along with it. This is one of the biggest additions to the book unlocked so far.

Familiar Strangers incorporates the psionic traditions of many non-psionic races, as well as the powers and techniques they have developed and the history of psionics in cultures where it is more niche and less visible.

Design and development on the motifs unlocked so far is underway, as well as art orders for different parts of the book. Which brings me to the next stretch goal revealed: at $20,000 we will add full-page artwork at the beginning of each chapter of the book!

We're already a good chunk of the way to the next stretch goal of more iconic artwork and there are more than 12 days left to go!

Thank you all for backing, sharing, and supporting this project. We're working hard to make it the best psionics book possible.

The Dreamwalkers Are Here! And more
about 6 years ago – Thu, Apr 05, 2018 at 04:05:33 PM

Dreamwalkers

We've hit $12,000 in funding, which means we are adding the Dreamwalkers motif! Up next is the stretch goal for Athanatism, which will add an entire new psionic discipline.

There have been a few questions of what a motif will contain, so I wanted to go over that in today's update. Each motif achieved so far (Children of the Void, Raiders of the Endless Sea, Dreamwalkers) means that we will add additional content to the Psionics Guide. That content will give you the capacity to play characters or, if you're a GM, have NPCs that are based around that motif. These options might include new powers, feats, organizations, psionic items, or the like.

To give an example, I'm going to use a motif that I made up and that won't be in the book: the Guardians of the Mind motif. For this motif, there might be a new feat that grants a bonus against mind-affecting powers and effects and that allows you to expend psionic focus to try to block a single psionic effect, an integrator option that allows you to protect the minds of those in your network, a psionic item that alerts the wearer any time a non-harmless mind-affecting effect is used nearby, and an organization named the Guardians of the Mind who the GM might use in the campaign and might complicate things for the party if they make heavy use of telepathic powers.

Now, some of these might sound like things you've already seen in the playtest - that's because it's intended to be an example of what a motif might include, not to be an actual motif from the book.

The content of a given motif will be organized with other similar material; feats with feats, powers with powers, and so on, so as to preserve the readability and use of the book .

Backer Goals

Since we're rapidly approaching 300 backers, we need to reveal the next backer goal! At 300 backers, we will have a vote at the end of the campaign where backers get to vote for a monster to be included in the Bestiary! We'll have more details as the vote gets closer.

We are halfway through our Kickstarter and still have more awesome stretch goals to reach, so be sure to spread the word with your gaming groups, gaming stores, Starfinder forums, on social media - wherever you go that has folks who want psionics for Starfinder! Thank you so much for helping us make this happen!

Iconic Rewards and Updated Playtest!
about 6 years ago – Wed, Apr 04, 2018 at 07:14:52 PM

We hope you all had a great long weekend! We're almost to the Dreamwalkers stretch goal and we had some questions on the Iconic reward tiers, as well as an update for the Specialist's playtest!

For the Specialist, there is an updated version of the playtest document here. If you want to know what's changed, you can find that here. The Psion playtest is still in internal review, but is progressing and making great progress! The Integrator is being finalized and then will be going through internal review before it is posted for public playtesting!

For the Iconic rewards, here's how they work!

Each of the four classes already has ONE defined iconic character - the one created by the designer of that class (Doug Haworth for the Aegis, Jade Ripley for the Specialist, Jeremy Smith for the Psion, and Andreas Ronnqvist for the Integrator).

However, for reach class we can ALSO have additional iconic characters relating to the provided sample builds. If we do not hit 16k funding and no one selects the Iconic reward tiers, we will have only the one iconic per class. If anyone selects the Iconic tier and we do not hit 16k, we will have TWO iconics per class. If we hit 16k funding, we will have the full set of four iconics per class. If anyone selects the Iconic reward tier, their selection will be one of those four.

If you are interested in this reward, please contact us with the character concept you had in mind. The character must be of a psionic or core race and the class specified by the reward tier. If you have a particular theme in mind for your character, include that, as well as a backup theme, just in case. If you choose one of these Iconic reward tiers, your character will then be one of the iconics for that particular class and will have custom art by one of our artists included in the book. You'll get to review the artwork as it goes through the review process and submit feedback. The iconic character may also be in artwork throughout the book or in other books, as was seen in the different pieces of art from our Ultimate Psionic iconic characters.
